You and your family are invited to this one-day preview, registration, and orientation program designed for first year students. At Preview, Registration, and Orientation (PRO) you will learn about student life, get the need-to know facts about Missouri S&T, meet your college advisor, take mathematics placement exams, and prepare your course selections. You will also register for your fall courses and go home with your 2010 fall schedule of courses in hand.
ACADEMIC PLACEMENT - During PRO, all new students take Missouri S&T mathematics placement tests to assist in selecting appropriate fall classes. (You are encouraged to review algebra and trigonometry prior to your PRO session). For sample math exams at Missouri S&T click here .Your scores will be reviewed by a math department faculty member in relation to your high school transcripts, college course work, and national achievement test results. An advisor will place you in the appropriate courses best suited to match your skills and ensure success in college.
COURSE SELECTION AND ADVISING - Advising with a faculty member will enable you to select appropriate courses, review academic policies, and degree requirements. You and your advisor will also select the Academic Workshop for Opening Week Orientation that best meets your needs.
STUDENT LIFE INFORMATION - You will learn more about freshmen living options, professional development opportunities, and extracurricular campus life.
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
- Because family members play a significant role in your success, we also encourage them to participate in PRO. There are joint student/parent activities as well as specially designed parent programs.

DISABILITIES
- Individuals with disabilities are requested to contact Disability Support Programs (573) 341-4211 at least two weeks prior to their PRO session to enable the University to provide reasonable accommodations for the program, including the placement test.
Why am I being encouraged to attend? Students who participate in orientation programs tend to become more involved in their education and are more likely to graduate. Because Missouri S&T is committed to student success, we expect incoming freshmen to participate in Preview, Registration, and Orientation, along with Opening Week Orientation.
