  • Have someone else take your photo standing within 5 feet of you.  No selfies.
  • Please smile!
  • Wear clothing normally worn on a daily basis with no offensive messages or pictures.
  • You can wear eyeglasses for your photo if you can clearly see your eyes, with no glare or dark lenses.
  • Sunglasses may not be worn.

  • Again, no filters!
  • You will need to send your photo as a jpeg file attachment.
  • Name your file as:  "<Missouri S&T Student Number>-<Legal Last Name>.jpg"
    • You can find your student number on your acceptance letter or in your Joe'SS account.  It is 8 digits long.  To locate your student number in your Joe'SS account, click on 'Self Service,' then 'Campus Personal Information,' then 'Demographic Information.'
    • For example, if Joe Miner's student number is 87654321, then his file would be named:  87654321-Miner.jpg
  • Email your photo to minercard@mst.edu, including your student number, your full legal name, and state whether you are an incoming freshman or an incoming transfer student in the body of the email.
  • First cards made as part of an Advising & Registration Day are free, but photos for these cards must be submitted during the week of the virtual A&R event.  After Friday of your virtual event week, the cost of a Miner Card ID will revert to its normal price of $15.

Examples

Juliette's selfie is a great picture of her, but not what we need for an ID photo
On her ID card, there will be empty spaces around her photo or her face will fill the photo frame too much. By directly facing the camera, we can ensure equal amounts of open space on both sides.
Amber's selfie will have the same issue.
We need to see your shoulders so that we have room to adjust the zoom. Additionally, the bright background makes it hard to distinguish Amber's face.
For the purposes of an identification card, this is a great picture of Juliette.
Notice how the picture more than fills the photo frame. The plain background is not distracting. This is the type of image we need.

Picking Up Your Miner Card

You must present one type of physical ID which includes a photo (driver license, passport, military identification card, state issued ID, etc.) to confirm your identity and verify the photograph you submitted in order to receive your Miner Card ID at check-in.
